Approximately 1500-sf of existing wood deck planking on this fixed pier was removed and replaced with new steel framing and grating with concrete infill to form a 14-ft wide walkway. Wood cross-bracing was added to the existing timber piles to provide additional lateral support. By reinforcing the substructure in lieu of a full replacement, the project budget was greatly reduced.
